Bat Care and Warranty

Knocking In

The knocking in is a crucial part of the preparation process of your cricket bat. We suggest you use a good quality mallet, spend around 30 minutes gently rounding off and compressing each face near the edge along with the toe area, this will help avoid small compression cracks developing during play, once you feel satisfied with your edge and toe areas you can then move into the middle of the blade, this area is always best knocked in with a cricket ball as this helps you get used to the bats pick up and balance, simple throw downs or catching practise is always a good idea.

We like to fit anti-scuff sheets onto our bats, but if you are a traditionalist that likes to oil your bats, we suggest you do so a couple of times before knocking in, If a face cover has been fitted, just add a light amount of oil to any uncovered areas of the bat, especially the toe area.
